En1a Steel

EN1A is a very popular grade of low carbon-manganese free cutting steel, which is most suitable for the manufacture of repetition turned components, such as nuts, bolts, hydraulic fittings and studs, particularly where intricate drilling and machining operations are involved. It can be case-hardened, producing components with enhanced wear resistance. En1a is also available as En1a leaded (En1aPb) for greater machinability. Swarf will form in small chips to prevent machine blockage.

EN1A is a non leaded Re-Sulphurised Free Maching Steel. This is premium review of free cutting steel. It has magnificent machinability. It is appropriate for case solidifying and electroplating. Regular applications are: Brake hose end, water powered parts, pulleys, circle brake cylinders, wheel nuts and embeds, control linkages, hear box segments (callous), residential rubbish canister axles, solid grapples, latch shackles, pressure driven fittings, bad habit jaws. En1a steel bars are utilized generally in splendid frame.

We can provide you free cutting steel both in black and bright bar in cold drawn form in the following size range:-

  1. Round Black from sizes 23.5mm to 80mm
  2. Bright Bar from sizes 22mm to 63.5mm
  3. Hexagons Black from 23.5mm to 52.5mm
  4. Hexagon Bright bar from 22mm to 50mm

We are supplier of this steel to a number of companies in Mumbai, Pune (eg Chakan, Bhosari, Ranjangaon, etc), Aurangabad, Ahmednagar, Rajkot, Thane, Nagpur, Belgaum, etc. All our En1a supplied is Ultrasound and MPI inspected.

EN 1A is low carbon material. Available in square, round, flat or hexagon form.

Heat Treatment

    1. Carbonisation of EN1A bright mild steel takes place at 900-950oC (1652oF- 1742oF) then it is furnace or air cooled.
    1. En1A can be tempered at 180-210 oC (356 oF- 410oF) then should be left to cool in air.
    1. The mild steel can be hardened at 780-800oC (1436oF- 1472oF) then quenched in oil or water. However this is difficult to do with EN1A and is not recommended.
